Learning Objectives
By the end of this workshop, participants will:
- Increase their knowledge of Evidence Synthesis methods, including how to interpret published syntheses
- Be able to identify the key steps in Evidence Syntheses
- Understand the importance of developing an Evidence Synthesis Protocol
Description
This introductory session will cover some distinctions between different evidence synthesis methodologies, such as systematic and scoping reviews. By highlighting resources to guide interpretation of published reviews and detailing the common methodological steps involved in evidence syntheses, learners will be better prepared to use evidence syntheses and to be involved in evidence synthesis projects. Workshop participants will be directed to guidance for conducting reviews and standards for reporting evidence syntheses as well as further instructional resources to continue their learning. Examples will be drawn from health and medical topics.
