DalTheatre's Devised Production 2025: Learning Curve
DalTheatre's Devised Production Feb. 4 - 8, 2025
Feb. 4-6 | 7:30pm
Feb. 8 | 2:00 & 7:30pm
David Mack. Murray Theatre | Dal Arts Centre
Follow a class of students as they relive heightened moments from their schooling in Grade 4, Grade 8 and Grade 12. Learning Curve explores the influences that shape us as we grow up. How much of who we become is learned, and from who? Which parts of us are innate and which parts stem from our environment, our teachers and our classmates.
Beginning without a script, our creative team of students and faculty bring their own artistry, perspectives and experiences to the rehearsal room to build a brand-new piece of Devised theatre. Learning Curve examines all the things we learned in school that weren't on the curriculum.
Directed by Matthew Thomas Walker, DalTheatre’s Devised production, Learning Curve, features a talented ensemble of Acting Program students including Aiden Bradshaw, Rachel Chew, Benton Elliott, Fiona Forsythe, Annie Gavin, Ella Haefele, Jacob Ives, Malachi Jeffery, Kanye Johnson, Alina Kogas, Samantha Longmore, Harry Stokes, Loralei Trafford, Bree Torgrimson.
In addition to Matthew Thomas Walker, the creative team includes Assistant Director Liam Oko (fourth-year Acting Program student), Set Designer Katrin Whitehead, Costume Designer Catherine MacCaughan (fourth-year Costumes Studies Student) and Lighting Designer Bruce MacLennan.
The production is further supported by the students in the Stage Design and Technical Theatre and Costume Studies programs, including stage manager Lauren Zemmelink, and Assistant Stage Managers Thunder Defayette and Eden Reshef.
