FHP Achievements 鈥� January 2015

  • Congratulations to Dr. Sara Kirk (School of Health and Human Performance) and her team who have been awarded a NSHRF Knowledge Sharing Support Award for "Food for Thought - Nova Scotia Youth Perspectives on Food Security."聽 The project, in collaboration with The Children and Youth in Challenging Contexts (CYCC) Network, will build on work from the recently published Children's Lifestyle and School Performance Study (CLASS) II - which found high rates of food insecurity in children in the province.聽 The award will be used to engage youth in discussions on how food insecurity should be addressed in schools.
  • Nursing's Dr. Marsha Campbell-Yeo and Dr. Janet Curran were among eight researchers from Dalhouse to receive funding from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI) John R. Evans Leaders Fund.聽 The funding will support Dr. Campbell-Yeo's work in producing scientific knowledge that supports the integration of mothers and families as active participants in paediatric care, and Dr. Curran's work on designing and evaluating theory-based interventions to improve transitions in health care for children.聽 Read to learn more.
  • Congratulations to Dr. Megan Aston and Dr. Sheri Price (Nursing), and their co-investigators, who have been awarded a NSHRF Knowledge Sharing Support Award for "Challenging Fear and Stigma: Creating a better health care experience for children with IDs."
  • Congratulations to Dr. Marsha Campbell-Yeo (Nursing) and Dr. Christine Chambers (Psychology/Neuroscience), and their co-investigators, who have been awarded a NSHRF Knowledge Sharing Support Award for "It Doesn't Have to Hurt: Extending our reach to help parents of children undergoing painful procedures."
